Privacy policy
A draft for review, dated 27 October 2026. It becomes final before JobVane opens to the public.
JobVane helps you look for work. To do that it has to know about you, so this page says plainly what it keeps, why, who else sees it, and how you stay in control.
Who is responsible
JobVane's operator is the data controller for what JobVane keeps about you. Their name and postal address, and the email address for privacy questions, are added here before JobVane opens to the public.
What JobVane keeps
- Your account: your email address, your name if you give it, and when you joined.
- How you sign in: if you use Sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple gives JobVane for you, the email address Apple shares (which may be a private relay address) and a token JobVane uses to end Sign in with Apple when you delete your account.
- Where you are signed in: each device's name, its browser and system, and when it was last used.
- Your choices: whether you allowed JobVane's AI, and which version of these terms you agreed to, with dates.
- Later: your CV, your goals, the jobs you save and your applications. This page will say how each is used before JobVane asks you for it.
Sign-in codes are kept only as a one-way fingerprint, for a day. Your network address is used, as a fingerprint, to slow down repeated sign-in attempts and is forgotten within an hour; JobVane's server logs also record it, to find faults and stop abuse, and are kept for at most 14 days.
Why, and on what basis
- To run your account and the service you asked for (performing our contract with you).
- To use AI on your information, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.
- To keep JobVane and your account secure (our legitimate interest in preventing abuse).
Who else handles it
- Anthropic, which makes the Claude AI, if you allow JobVane's AI. It processes what each task needs in the United States on JobVane's behalf and does not use it to train its AI. Transfers outside the EU are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
- Hetzner Online, which runs JobVane's servers and encrypted backups in the EU.
- Amazon Web Services, which sends JobVane's sign-in emails from Ireland.
- Apple, if you use Sign in with Apple.
JobVane has no advertising and no analytics or tracking, and never sells or shares your information for marketing. Employers see nothing about you unless you send them something yourself.
How long it is kept
Everything is kept while you have an account. When you delete your account, it is deleted at once, and the copies in JobVane's encrypted backups are gone within 35 days. A device you have not used for 30 days (a browser) or 90 days (the app) is signed out.
Your rights
You can see and download everything JobVane keeps about you (Settings, Download my data), correct it, delete your account (Settings, Delete my account), withdraw your consent to AI, and object to or ask us to limit how your information is used. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland, or to the authority where you live.
Cookies
JobVane uses only the cookies it needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, one that protects its forms, and, while you sign in with Apple, one that lasts ten minutes. There are no others.
Children
JobVane is not for people under 16.
Changes
When this policy changes, JobVane shows the new version and its date, and asks you to agree again where the law needs it.
